Questions, answered.
Is a Windows licence included?
No. You bring your own Windows Server licence, so you only pay for the server. Your server starts on the Windows Server evaluation edition, so you can set it up and use it straight away.
How long can I use the evaluation?
180 days. The evaluation is for trying Windows Server out. After that Windows restarts itself every hour until you add a licence, so add yours before then.
Which licence can I use?
Microsoft only allows your own licence on a hosting provider's servers if it has Software Assurance or is a subscription licence. Boxed licences and licences that came with a computer can't be used. Your Microsoft reseller can tell you which one fits.
How do I add my licence?
In your client area, open your server, choose More, then Windows licence. Pick Standard or Datacenter and enter your key. The server restarts once or twice and then activates online, and your files and settings stay as they are. You can also enter the key yourself in Windows under Settings, Activation.
Do you keep my product key?
No. The key goes straight to your server and is not stored by us.
How do I connect?
Open Remote Desktop and connect to your server's IP address as Administrator, with the password you chose when you ordered.
