Connect to your servers over VPN
VPN access gives each person on your team a private, encrypted connection to your servers. It is included with Business plans (3 users) and can be added to any server from Add-ons.
Windows, Mac and Linux Android and iPhone Encrypted with WireGuard
1
Get your login
In your client area, open your server and go to the VPN tab. Add a user for each person, then press Download next to their name. Each person gets their own file, so you can remove one person without affecting the others.
2
Install WireGuard
WireGuard is a free, fast VPN app for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone. Download it from wireguard.com or your phone's app store.
3
Import the file
Open WireGuard and choose Add tunnel, then Import tunnel from file, and pick the file you downloaded. On a phone, you can also send the file to yourself and open it with WireGuard.
4
Connect
Switch the tunnel on. You are now connected to your server privately. Connect to it with SSH or Remote Desktop as usual, using the server's IP address.
5
Close SSH or Remote Desktop to the internet (recommended)
In your server's Firewall tab, allow SSH (port 22) or Remote Desktop (port 3389) only from the VPN address shown on the VPN tab. Anyone not on your VPN can then no longer try to log in.
Problems connecting? Check that the tunnel is switched on and that your network allows UDP traffic. Still stuck? Open a support ticket and our team will help.
